Elite Welding & Fabrication: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Elite-compatible welding and fabrication parts in West Palm Beach, with most hinge, bracket, and gate frame repairs running between $220 and $680 installed, depending on the extent of the weld and whether we’re repairing the existing part or fabricating a replacement. Same-day service is available for most weld failures when we can reach the property before 2 p.m. The way owners usually find us: a gate that suddenly drags on the driveway, a lower hinge that separated from the post, or a crack that opened up after a storm pushed the gate past its travel limit. Elite gates are built with light-to-medium gauge steel on the frame and aluminum on some trim sections, and coastal air in West Palm Beach accelerates rust at the weld joints faster than most owners expect.

Which Elite Models This Applies To

We weld and fabricate for the full Elite line we see in West Palm Beach: the SL3000 and SL4000 slide gate operators, the CSW200 swing gate, and the older Elite Sentry series that’s still running on plenty of properties in the Northwood and El Cid neighborhoods. The part we’re repairing is rarely the motor itself. It’s the steel around it: hinge brackets, gate frames, operator mounting plates, and the steel posts that hold the whole assembly.

When you look at an Elite gate, the model plate is usually mounted inside the operator cover or on the frame rail near the drive unit. If the plate is weathered and unreadable, we measure the hinge spacing and the post diameter, then match the fabrication to what’s actually there rather than what the original spec sheet said. One compatibility gotcha: several Elite slide gate models use a bolt-on steel drive track that corrodes from the inside out, and a visual inspection from the top can miss it. We check the underside with a mirror before we quote anything.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Elite, and we work with OEM Elite parts when the original piece is still available. Where the OEM steel bracket has been discontinued, we fabricate a heavier-gauge replacement in our shop, often with better pre-treatment than the original shipped with. On a gate that lives within two miles of the Intracoastal, we’ll recommend aftermarket stainless or powder-coated steel over OEM bare metal every time.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate dips toward the free end when it’s halfway open. The hinge side is holding, but a weld at the upper hinge bracket has cracked and the gate is now cantilevering on the lower point. This gets worse fast and starts chewing up the operator gearbox. We see this most often on CSW200 swing gates that have been through a few hurricane seasons.
  • You hear a metal-on-metal scrape during travel. A failing weld lets the frame shift slightly, so a bracket or corner now contacts the post or the track. The sound is the steel wearing itself down, and the loose movement is overloading the motor.
  • Rust streaks run down from a weld joint. That’s water working its way through a micro-crack in the original weld. Once the rust streaking starts, the joint is already compromised internally, even if it still looks solid from six feet away.
  • The gate jerks or binds right at the same spot every cycle. The operator is fighting a mechanical change, not an electrical one. A shifted weld changes the geometry of the gate’s travel path, and the Elite motor keeps pushing harder until a limit switch or a gear strips.
  • A hinge bolt hole is now an oval, not a circle. The gate has been moving on a loose hinge long enough to wallow out the steel. That play means the fabrication is, at a minimum, hinge replacement, and often a reinforcement plate welded over the elongated hole.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Fabrication and weld repair on Elite gates in West Palm Beach runs on a parts-plus-labor model, and the price is written before we fire a torch. Here’s what we quote most often:

  • Hinge bracket repair or replacement: $180-$320 per hinge, based on the steel thickness and whether we need to remove the gate to weld it properly.
  • Gate frame crack repair: $150-$280, including grinding out the failed weld, re-welding, and post-weld treatment.
  • Full hinge set replacement on a swing gate: $380-$680, including fabrication, alignment, and re-hanging the gate.
  • Slide track repair or reinforcement: $260-$520, depending on the track length and whether we’re repairing a section or fabricating a new run.
  • Post repair or replacement: $300-$700, driven by the post size and whether the surrounding concrete needs to be cut back and re-poured.

Every quote includes labor, the steel or replacement part, mobile welding rig arrival, and the alignment work to get the Elite operator running true again. We photograph the failed weld before we cut, the prep work before we weld, and the finished joint after it’s cooled. That photo log is yours, and it’s filed in our job record. If the quote changes mid-job because we find more corrosion under the surface, we stop, show you what we found, and get written agreement on the new number before we continue. Every weld repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the joint fails within a year, we grind it out and redo it at no charge.

A homeowner can safely check alignment, look for rust streaking, and photograph what they find. If the gate is dragging or the hinge is visibly separated, we recommend stopping the gate at the disconnect and leaving it for a technician. The realistic hazard depends on the part: a swing gate that breaks free from a hinge weighs a few hundred pounds and can come down on whoever is under it, and an angled grinder with a cutoff wheel on corroded steel demands the same respect as any other high-risk tool. What begins as a simple weld job frequently becomes a gate removal and a re-hang, and that’s the point where the job needs a truck, a lift, and a second set of hands.

If you’re not sure whether it’s safe to keep running the gate, pull the operator’s manual disconnect so the gate freewheels, then call (561) 725-8048. We’ll talk through what you’re seeing, tell you if it can wait or needs to stop, and give you a written number before we send anyone out.
